Formerly North Shore Park, this site was established in 2010 as a county effort to incorporate more beachfront recreational spaces and parking. Previously occupying the property was the Happy Whale Condominium and Restaurant, which was torn down in 2001. In 2011 North Shore Park was renamed to honor former realtor and community leader Al Weeks. He was often referred to as the "unofficial mayor of Omond-by-the-Sea."
