A joint effort of Volusia County's government and school board, the 360-acre Lyonia Preserve is set aside to protect and restore Florida's distinctive-and disappearing-scrub habitat. Three hiking-only trails (.4 miles, 1.2 miles, and 2.4 miles) wind through the conservation lands, starting behind the Deltona Regional Library and the Lyonia Environmental Center (LEC). The LEC offers introductions to this special area, including interpretive displays, educational programs and guided tours.
