Enjoy the beauty of fall flowers in bloom at Wiregrass Prairie Preserve! The Volusia County Explore Volusia program invites you to join Environmental Specialist Tommy Nordmann for a hike and discover fall wildflowers in bloom at Wiregrass Prairie Preserve on a one-mile loop trail. Learn how Volusia County Land Management staff restore and manage pine flatwoods habitats so these native plants can thrive. **Important note: Waivers must be completed in full to participate in the program. You can download and complete a waiver ahead of time by visiting Explore Volusia. ** Some map apps and GPS devices will take you to the incorrect location. Use the following link to direct you to Wiregrass Prairie Preserve: Marked Location in Osteen, FL United States - Apple Maps ACTIVITY: This will be a moderate hike. RESERVATIONS: Required. Unless you have a confirmation email, you are not registered. TICKETS: No printed ticket is necessary. AGES: Ages ten and up are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult. ATTIRE: closed-toe shoes, comfortable clothing for the outdoors WHAT TO BRING: water, bug spray, sunscreen ** Some of our trails have mud and/or standing water because they are located in wetland ecosystems and because of seasonal rains and high tides. We recommend you bring a pair of waterproof boots in addition to your regular hiking shoes if you don't want your shoes to get wet. Our hike leader will let you know the condition of the trails prior to the start of the hike. FACILITIES: There is a port-a-let on site but no running water.
