Paddle Florida's second largest lake and discover how the lake is being restored to attract wildlife! The Volusia County Explore Volusia program invites you to join Environmental Specialist Tommy Nordmann and paddle the second largest lake in Florida, learn about the military history of the lake, and explore the wildlife found there. Participants will also learn about the ongoing restoration projects on the lake. **Important note: Waivers must be completed in full to participate in the program. You can download and complete a waiver ahead of time by visiting Explore Volusia. **Some map apps and GPS devices will take you to the incorrect location. Use the following link to direct you to the kayak launch at Lake George Forest and WMA: Marked Location - Apple Maps **Follow the signs from the park by the fishing pier to the kayak launch. ACTIVITY: A 2.5-hour moderate paddling trip. Difficulty will depend on sun, wind, and currents. RESERVATIONS: Required. Unless you have a confirmation email, your are not registered. TICKETS: No printed ticket is necessary. AGES: Ages 10 and up are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult. ATTIRE: Wear appropriate clothing for the outdoors and closed-toe shoes that can get wet. WHAT TO BRING: Watercraft (kayak, canoe, or SUP), personal flotation device (must be worn while paddling), emergency whistle, water to drink, sunscreen, and bug spray ** Six, single sit-on-top kayaks (plus gear) are available at no cost. You can reserve one in the "add-ons" section under "tickets." You must have a general admission ticket for each person reserving a kayak. First come, first served! FACILITIES: There is a port-a-let but no running water on site. The port-a-let is located near the pavillion and the fishing pier.
