Covering more than 1,400 acres, Wiregrass consists of two main plots of land - one on the southeast corner of Lake Ashby and the other less than a mile further southeast. Visitors can experience a mingling of upland and wetland environments including strand swamps, wet prairies, cypress domes, and wet and mesic flatlands. The area is home to wildlife such as alligators, bald eagles, sandhill cranes, gopher tortoises and Florida black bears. Motorized vehicles are not allowed.

  • Boating/canoeing - There is no boat ramp on the property; however, there is a small dock. A 24-hour boat launch is available further north at the Lake Ashby Boat Ramp.
