In the early 1800s James Ormond Tomb Park was part of a 2,000-acre parcel of land that was developed into a cotton and indigo plantation called Damietta by Captain James Ormond I. Now this nine-acre section, which was donated to the Park Service in 1945, is the resting place of his son James Ormond II. It offers a playground, nature trail, pavilion with picnic tables, and restrooms. This park is named after James Ormond I, and the city is named in honor of Ormond family
