Brain Cancer Awareness 5K

BENEFICIARY: "Cancer can't finish the race"

We are doing this for others who may have this disease. We want to bring awareness to this type of cancer, GBM is a deadly disease, and one very few people hear about. This year we have partnered with UF McKnight Brain Institute to donate funds to support brain cancer research.Glioblastoma (GBM), is the most common, and aggressive of primary brain tumors. In the United States alone. Approximately 18,000 people are diagnosed with GBM every year. Almost 1 in 5 tumors that start in the brain are Glioblastomas. Glioblastoma, is a devastating disease for both patients and caregivers, and despite available therapies, prognosis is extremely poor. The majority of patients do not survive for more than two years following Diagnosis, and the median survival is generally less than a year. The average 5 year survival rate is less than 3%. We hope that you will join us in our efforts to raise awareness and support funding for brain cancer research.

ENTRY FEES: Entry fee before November 12 = $25 Entry fee from November 12-18 = $30 Race Day Entry fee = $35

18 years and younger = $20 18 years and younger/race day = $25

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS: Pre race packet pick up/ registration: Friday, November 18, 2016 12-6 pm at Riverside Park, 299 South Riverside Dr., New Smyrna Beach

Race Day registration: Saturday, November 19, 2016 6:30 am - 8:00 am at Riverside Park, 299 South Riverside Dr., New Smyrna Beach

Race Starts: 8:00 am

AWARDS: Overall/Male and Female finishers and the top three runners in the age groups.

Trophy: Top Male/ Female runner. Medal: Top 3 age groups.

All participants will receive a finisher race ribbon. Goodie bags for the first 200 registrants, T-shirt and Post race refreshments (Availability and size of shirts only guaranteed to those who register by November 4, 2016)
